Hazard Reduction Burn At Rydal

Heads up peeps the hazard burn that was planned for Rydal the week after the 24hr now looks like it will take place the week before. See below While doing trail work it would be good to clear dead fall a few meters either side of the tail to protect it a bit. Leaf and bark should be fine as it will burn through them fairly quick.

Hi Craig & Martin,

Just an update regarding our HR burn at Lidsdale…

There will be a D4 onsite this Wednesday 6 March and works should be completed Friday 8 March. Works are to prepare the roads to a standard for our Cat 9 (utes + 400L) vehicles to be able to use as a containment and patrol line for the burn.

We are hoping to light the burn on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 March. Patrols would continue until Sunday 17 March. Martin, this would put part of your track for the RTE through partially burnt ground. There shouldn’t be any danger from burnt out trees but you may have patches of burnt/unburnt areas that may be a little unattractive.

If the weather is a problem and causes any delays, we would go ahead with the burn after the RTE event on Tuesday 26 March.

Craig, can you please let club members know what is going on and that they may not be able to ride on Tuesday 26. Also if anyone has asthma or respiratory problems to avoid the area after the burn if it is still a bit smoky.

If you have any concerns or issues please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi all the hazard reduction burn at Rydal has been brought forward to this monday. Probably wont have permission to ride by Tuesday but stay posted. I'm out of town but if anyone has time to Duck out tomorrow and do a bit of tidy up around the A lines to prevent the logs burning out and maybe grab the signs and arrows it would be much appreciated

Due to forecast wind direction over the next week we will now attempt our HR burn in Lidsdale State Forest on Monday 11th March. Sorry for the late notice, please call me if you want to discuss anything.

Thank you,
