2017-2018 Tuesday Night Racing

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Tuesday Night Racing at Rydal.

It's bunch of fun

We are fairly relaxed, A grade just means you do more laps, and we encourage every one to have a go.

We don't have podiums or prizes so it's all about getting out there and competing against your own time and your mates and then laughing about it at the BBQ afterwards.

So don't be intimidated by the "race" tag. We all just go out to do our best.

Doing the higher grade with more laps will gain you more series points.

There is a shorter track for juniors when we run the longer loops

Support Mick and Roy with their broken next

So we wanted to offer Mick and Roy a bit of financial support after their neck injuries but with the Tour de Range not happening this year I was wondering the best way to go about it. GoFundMe seems the simplest option that allows a broader range of people to chip in to help out. I set a simple goal of $2000 as that is in line with what we raised at the TdR but I'd love to raisde more if possble and if every follower of this page chucked in just $10 we'd smash it.

2017 4 Seasons Series

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Ah, the end of the quarter, BAS, quarterly tax, paper work... But it wasn't always so.

Remember when life was simple? Remember when you rode your bike to have a good time?
When you rode because it felt good and the company you rode with and the tracks you rode were more important than having 1000 categories to choose from and a big list of swag to win.

Well CTMBC are taking it back.

We're stripping away all the hype and complications and just having a fun series of 3hr races celebrating the seasons.

Sheep Station Cup 24-04-2016

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The Sheep Station Cup was born from the idea of having an event that linked up the usual extended XC loop with some of the other trails in the Lidsdale Forest out the back of Rydal

The original used a 25km loop with options of 1 or 2 laps and offered the winners the coveted Sheep Station in the form of the now rare Squatters Board game.

For 2016 we are introducing more options

The Fiddy K: 50kms
The Middy K: 25kms
and the Kiddy K: 10km

What a weekend

Friday

, trail is dusty, none of the rain predicted through the week landed. Conversations amoung the trail crew went a lot like "If it doesn't rain tonight the trail is going to be blown to bits come racing."

Rain threatened, The Friday night the heavens openned a little.

Saturday

Weather was miserable drizzlely rain that wasn't heavy, wasn't that cold but the longer you stood in it the more miserable it got.

Joel Willis, Mont Sainte-Anne World cup

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

As some may know long time club member Joel Willis headed overseas last week with the Australian Junior Team to compete at UCI DH 5 at Mont Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada.

After a big crash in practice he recovered and this morning qualified in 8th place, with Aussie team mate and long time friendly rival Andrew Crimmins in 2nd

Joel first started race XC and Mini DH with the club at the Lidsdale trails back when he was 9 or 10 and had natural ability from the start combined with a great work ethic to get in and train up.

Volunteers needed for Rock n Road 17 May

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Wild Horizons are looking for volunteers for the Rock and Road at Rydal on the 17thy May

It would be great to have 3 or 4 guys from the club that I can use as drivers for event officials (course director/ first aid etc) who know the forest. They don't need to have an intimate knowledge of the forest or the course, but any knowledge is going to be streets ahead of someone who has never been there before.

Tuesday Night racing hiatus

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With dwindling numbers and no one really wanting to sit out in the cold to time we are going to finish up with the Tuesday racing for a bit.

Now, if you're like me you'll still need your Tuesday night Mountain bike fix and traditionally over the winter period we've continued through with social rides.

This also gives us a chance to get out and ride other trails (there are some great night riding spots around our area)

So keep an eye on the calendar as the rides wont always be at Rydal and meeting times might change to allow for extra travel time if needed.
